To honor National Mental Illness Awareness Week, the library will exhibit approximately 500 handwritten descriptions of mental illness, written by Cedar Rapids residents. Local artistsí interpretations of mental illness, short films, and numerous resources will accompany the exhibit in the library commons. The collections, at once heartbreaking and heartwarming, remind us of the fragility that is humanity.Library: Downtown Library
The Mental Illness is...Community Collection aims to de-stigmatize mental illness by providing a space for the free and open exchange of ideas, and was prepared in cooperation with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).
Mental Illness is...Community Collection will be on display in the Downtown Library Commons from October 7-13, 2018. Everyone is welcome.
