 Lori Vicker of Spirit Lake, Iowa presents an engaging talk on the Orphan Train Movement (c. 1854-1929), a resettlement program for poor and orphaned children living in New York City meant to deter them from a life of crime and poverty. The speaker is a retired reading specialist who travels the Midwest sharing her interest and enthusiasm for this little-known era of history.
