 Join us as we trace the history of politics in the US. Learn about the principles the United States was founded upon, how these principals have traditionally represented certain groups and how parties became so polarized. Discuss how you being involved in the political process and your voice really matters.
In the first session we will look at the history of politics, in the second session we feature Valerie Smith from Linn County Elections and Coe College Political Science Professor. Valerie will address voter registration and voting processes, election equipment, and/or historical trends in turnout and get you ready for the polls November 6th. Professor Nesmith will address the importance of the Midterms. In the final session we will have a small panel of local Cedar Rapidians- three Democrats and three Republicans to answer questions from the audience.
These sessions are participatory so come prepared to discuss and exchange ideas with civility.
