School House Jazz is a music enrichment program created by KCCK-FM to tap into young people's energy and curiosity and help them begin to appreciate jazz as fun music and as an important part of American heritage.
Local musicians introduce summer readers to jazz music and show how it's influenced American culture. Through live performance, narration and interaction with musicians, this project demonstrates what sets jazz apart from other musical forms. Children will gain a better understanding of musical variety available as they begin to make personal choices about preference and style.
